4 Weeks of Mixing Instruction
The goal of this course is to give your mixing skills a huge boost in a short amount of time and unlike other mixing masterclasses or seminars, for this course, you have to do the work! Over the course of 4 weeks you'll be given assignments and videos that will guide you step by step through the entire mixing process. The course culminates with a live online masterclass where Grammy winner Fab Dupont gives the class feedback on their mixes and then shows how he would mix the song in addition to answering any questions the class may have. After the masterclass you'll have a chance to recall your mix, make tweaks and submit your final mix to complete the course. | If you're constantly battling with your mixes, this is your chance to learn the entire mixing process in a hands-on fashion with feedback throughout the course. Fab will show you how to keep moving and stay inspired to create great sounding mixes every time. Because of the interactive nature of this course, there are only 30 spots available and the sooner you sign up, the sooner you can receive the stems and get to work putting together your first mix. We guarantee that you will walk away from this experience more confident and fluent at mixing than ever before. Enrollment begins January 2nd and the last day to enroll is February 1st so don't wait! |

Feedback from last year's masterclass students...

I was impressed by Fab's ability to convey knowledge, point out the most sonically important things and focus on the music all at the same time!

Amazing weekend, it was a truly illuminating experience. I feel like I've had a glimpse of the "top of the mountain" and know what a record by top class musicians in a world-class facility and mixed by industry leaders sounds like (and very importantly, how it was done).

I guarantee you will not be the same mixer or producer as you were before the masterclass.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How does the application process work?
What's the start and end time? All of the assignments are done on your own schedule and must be submitted by 12am (Midnight) EST on each due date. The online masterclass will begin at 12pm EST on March 5th and will last 6 or 7 hours. Can I have the stems to practice with? Absolutely, in fact, this course wouldn't be much fun without them! You'll receive the stems as soon as you have paid and have your spot confirmed. What the song/genre? ROCK! The song will be "Shot for Shot" by the band Streepthroat. They are a "loud, weird, gross rock band from Brooklyn with a devil-may-care attitude, who wants you to paint them like one of your French girls." What gear will Fab be using? The focus of this course on the workflow, techniques and thought process behind Fab's mix decisions. The gear and software you use doesn't matter, as long as you have access to a professional DAW (such as Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase, Ableton, Studio One, etc) you'll have everything you need to complete this course. | How much work does this course require? It depends on how fast you mix, but plan on spending between 2 to 6 hours per assignment. What happens if I miss an assignment? Due to the intense nature of this course, you'll need to stay on top of the assignment schedule to get the full value out of the course. If you happen to miss an assignment you can submit it toward completion of the course but will not receive feedback. What sort of feedback will I receive on my assignments and mix? Your pureMix Certified Instructor, Ian Kagey, will be evaluating and giving you feedback throughout the course. He'll point out both the good and the bad then offer you tips that can improve the mix and all of your mixes in the future. How long will I have access to the live stream replay? Being able to participate during the session, asking questions and giving feedback is the best aspect of this course. The masterclass will be streamed LIVE and then available for replay by students anytime afterward. We also encourage students to watch it again to help absorb more material the 2nd time around. What happens if the streaming fails for some reason or the internet goes out? Don't worry, we have a plan B and plan C ready to go and we're always recording the entire broadcast and will make the replay available. Have questions not answered here?
